PAEDIATRIC CONSULTANT-LED AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER ASSESSMENTS FOR CHILDREN
What we do
Autism Clinic London is a Consultant-led service for providing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessments and post-diagnostic support by highly qualified expert doctors and multidisciplinary professionals. We provide Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for children between the ages of 2 and 12 years, following NICE guidelines. Our reports are recognised and accepted by NHS, Local Authorities, and Educational Settings.
We offer three types of service
Private Assessments
We offer internationally recognised Autism assessments for children between the ages of 2 and 12 years.
As well as providing individual private Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments, Autism Clinic London also partners with NHS trusts. We are able to work with your multidisciplinary team to complete the whole ASD assessment, or to contribute to part of it.
In this initial 15-minute video consultation with a Specialist Doctor, we will gather your concerns about your child, and review any previous reports to determine whether a full autism assessment is required. This initial session costs £49.
Observation and Interactive Session
After the initial 15-minute video consultation, a full assessment may be recommended for the price of £1,625*.
This will start with gathering further information from the educational setting with your consent (if applicable). Then an observational assessment (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – ADOS-2) will take place to assess your child’s social communication, interaction and play by carrying out different tasks. This will be completed face-to-face at our Harley Street or Paddington clinic.
* Please see Our Prices page for information on special pricing for low-income families.
Physical examination
A 30-minute physical examination by one of our Specialist Doctors will take place at our Harley Street or Paddington Clinic. If your child is under five years old, we will also carry out a developmental assessment (Schedule of Growing Skills 2- SOGS-2).
Diagnostic Interview with Feedback
A 90-minute diagnostic video interview with the parent will take place with one of our Specialist Doctors (this will include questions relating to your child’s medical and developmental history).
During this virtual appointment, our Specialist Doctor will also observe/interact with your child in their home environment.
Following this, your Doctor will review all the clinical information from the previous assessments, as well as any additional information provided, and will feedback the outcome to you.
Post Diagnostic Care
Following your child’s assessment, our clinical team will collate all the gathered information and prepare a comprehensive report tailored to your child’s needs.
If your child is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder:
• We will arrange a virtual appointment with our clinical team within 4 weeks of your assessment. During this call, we will answer any questions you may have following the diagnosis and guide you through our comprehensive post-diagnostic offer.
• We will share our post-diagnostic resource pack to support your child’s needs and optional post-diagnostic support available from Autism Clinic London.
More information on our post-diagnostic services can be found here and on our Instagram feed.
what is autism spectrum disorder and how does a diagnosis help?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that impacts how a child interacts and communicates with others.
There are many benefits from seeking a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It can help a person and all those that care for them to get a better understanding of who they are, and why they might be having difficulties with particular situations. There is growing evidence that early intervention provides the best outcome for your child.
Autism Clinic London wants to be part of your journey as early as possible, by providing a comprehensive Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessment that will open the doors to a variety of support at the right time.
Post Diagnostic Care
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people communicate and interact with the world around them. Autism spectrum disorder is thought to affect 1 in 100 people in the UK. It is important to remember that, as the term ‘spectrum’ suggests, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects people in different ways, and each family will have its own unique experience. Autism Clinic London can offer a holistic and bespoke post-diagnostic care package centred around your child’s specific needs.
