General

How to refer to Autism Clinic London (ACL)?

Parents/Carers of children between 2 and 12 years of age can be referred to us directly by the family or by any health care professional highlighting concerns with the child’s needs.  Full medical history of the child from their GP prior to consultation is desirable.

NHS trusts can also contact us directly to partner with us, to carry out Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnostic assessments to help reduce their waiting times and manage their caseload

Why choose Autism Clinic London (ACL)?

All our doctors and clinicians have several years of experience in managing and assessing children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  All clinicians are registered with their respective regulatory bodies such as the General Medical Council (GMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  They are also fully trained and experienced in using a number of Autism Diagnostic tools.

Autism Clinic London uses advanced video technology in conjunction with face-to-face assessment (if required), to provide the child and their family with a dynamic and innovative approach for a first-class experience.

How do we handle your personal data?

All data is shared, accessed and stored in our secure technology platform with strict protocols in place, meeting industry standards. We will seek consent from parents/carers before any information is shared or collected from other professionals to help with our assessment.  We recommend sharing information after assessment with the GP and school to help support the child in the community.  We are GDPR compliant and registered with the Information Commissioning Office (www.ico.org.uk).

However if there are safeguarding concerns and there is risk to the safety of the child, confidentially may need to be breached, as per our protocols in line with General Medical Council (GMC) guidance.

When clinical information is shared for teaching or supervision purposes, this will be carried out without patient-identifiable information being divulged and after appropriate consent has been obtained.

Consent from parent/carer will be taken before commencing the assessment or for any post-diagnostic support services accessed through Autism Clinic London.

What to do if you cancel, change, are late or do not attend appointment?

All assessment appointments have an allocated time slot, which cannot be changed on the day of assessment.  Arriving late for the appointment may result in the clinician being unable to fully complete the assessment on the day and may incur additional charges to finish the assessment at a later date.

The clinic requires at least 48 hours notice (not including weekends or bank holidays) for re-scheduling or cancelling any appointments (for a full refund).  If an appointment is not attended or less than 48 hours’ notice (not including weekends or bank holidays) is provided, the client will be charged for the whole appointment session (£500 for each session missed).
